Out of Place

Cairn for Prince Albert Balmoral

Only in one period — and only by command of one person — could a pyramid have appeared on top of a peaceful Scottish hill, surrounded by spruces and pines. Queen Victoria erected this, largest of the so-called Balmoral cairns, in memory of her beloved Prince Albert. Source: Wikimedia Commons.

Templo de Debod (Madrid) 25

There can’t be that many places where you can see an Ancient Egyptian temple encircled by ice. Early 2nd century BC Temple of Debod was one of the buildings dismantled during the construction of the Aswan Dam in the 1960s, and has since been rebuilt in a park near the Royal Palace of Madrid, Spain.
